About Me

Hello, I'm Denise Tucker, owner/operator of Garden City Cats. The most exclusive luxury cat boarding facility in Southwest Austin. I'm a native Austinite, and have lived in all parts of this beautiful city of ours. Oakhill has been my home community for the past 30+ years! I previously worked as a licensed Occupational Therapy Assistant or C.O.T.A., in the state of Texas, and worked in this field for 26+ years. I’ve always enjoyed caring for people, animals, and plants, and decided to open my large, beautiful sunroom as a zen space for cats! I wanted to share my love of plants/gardening, along with the tranquil sounds of water, in a relaxing, home-away-from-home environment for clients who want a stress free option for their feline family! Here, your cat(s) will be in a safe, climate controlled, natural setting, surrounded by windows with an open, outdoor feel, as well as, our large outdoor enclosure for even more exploration! I wanted it to feel more like home, and not like a “facility”. This is where Garden City Cats differs from most others.

Having Garden City Cats in my sunroom means I am available day and night to meet your kitty’s needs. It means I will spend lots more time than other boarding facilities, playing with your kitty, checking on their welfare, even at night, and encouraging them to explore the indoor/outdoor spaces daily! I enjoy meeting new clients and establishing a long term rapport, so that every cat is comfortable with coming back to stay with us time and again! I aim for your kitty to think of my home as their second home, & for them to always be relaxed and happy during their stay.

Opening Garden City Cats has been an exciting change of pace for me. I knew it was the perfect space for cat boarding, and I wanted to provide my community with a clean, odor free, stress free space for their felines. A friend and neighbor was gracious enough to help build our outdoor enclosure as a “thank you” for me pet sitting his disabled cat, who is paralyzed, and his other pets, while he was away on vacation. After visiting several other boarding facilities nearby, I noticed they were boring, stark, and extremely stinky! I scoop the potty boxes several times a day & work hard to keep it an odor free environment. I am keen and intuitive about a cat's fears and desires. I spend a lot of time with them, getting to know them well, and letting them get to know me in a calm, gentle way. They will enjoy a clean open space, a 3 room condo, lots of windows, perches, cat towers, tunnels, toys, room to safely explore, & loving attention throughout the day.

I aim to provide my community with high quality boarding so every feline guest enjoys a relaxing, stimulating, fun, home-like experience. I’ve spent lots of time “catifying” the space, and making sure it meets the highest standards for your kitty's enjoyment and well being. Please have a look at my photo gallery. I will care for them like they’re my own, and give so much more quality attention to each and every one! That’s a promise!
